@ljwrites the comparisons & history of different building codes is fascinating but i am a bit amused at the “regulations not culture” aspect of the article as if those regulations weren’t specced that way for entirely cultural reasons (and they even include many of these cultural reasons in the article!)

@twistylittlepassages good luck! another spanish specific suggestion is personal.colby.edu/~bknelson/S

the prof hasn’t uploaded the actual lectures / readings so its short on context but the exercises are good if you want a little extra practice in some area

@twistylittlepassages spanish only but i have been meaning to check out librelingo.app

also as a supplement to actual learning sites, is this community translation resource: tatoeba.org/en/

@aschmitz @wallhackio the wikihow article for fixing a clogged drain has “buy a hair trap to prevent future issues” as step 9

@aschmitz @wallhackio M says if you had a girlfriend she’d explain these things

@aschmitz @wallhackio this is presumably why it was only a notable issue when æsc who has long hair visited yes, but if you dont have a hair trap you can’t really blame her for the results

@wallhackio æsc was only the symptom of your own failures

@aescling @wallhackio @aschmitz i dont know that being compared to captain ahab is a good thing

re: mention of sexual activities

@JessMahler its more common in some fandoms than others so if you get lucky enough you might never run into it! …and if you don’t you’ll probably figure out somethings off immediately, the vibe is both distinctive and weird

re: mention of sexual activities

@JessMahler yeah i’ve made a practice in fandom spaces of avoiding people who have too strong feelings about which character is the bottom bc 90% of the time its code for some sort of inherently feminine/submissive bs that i do not have the patience for

mention of sexual activities

@JessMahler this is not a disagreement but it *is* odd that we’ve decided the person giving oral is the receptive partner somehow

politics

@wallhackio this sounds like vaccines cause autism bs
