@RainofTerra figure out what your useful skills and resources are, and how much time/energy you can reasonably dedicate to sharing them (burnout sucks!), and then share that info with all your current friends. If you’re comfortable with it, tell them you’re happy to help with [insert skill/resource related stuff here] if any of their friends need help. Then find out what their skills are, and if those are things you can pass along if you hear about someone needing help

See if there are outdoor/covid safe events you can go to, at least occasionally (political events like protests are good, but if you’ve only got yoga in the park you’ll still meet some potentially cool people!) Exchange contact info with anyone you meet who seems cool, and then maybe hit them up for coffee or a walk in the park or whatever if you wanna turn it into a real friendship. Mention you’ve been trying to help people with [thing] if it comes up. Find out who the organizers are, or other people who seem to be Doing The Work and are aligned with your values and introduce yourself to them. Ask if they’ve got a mailing list/signal group/whatever so you can hear about other stuff they’re doing & if there’s anything you can help with, either in the moment or in the future

poll re: biting insects

@twistylittlepassages @titania same! topical Benadryl helps a lot but if i don’t have it it sucks

@Betty so far we’ve been cursing the squirrels but otherwise they’re doing p okay i think?

@Betty i fortuitously put a lot of tiny plants in the ground last week so i’ve been appreciating checking in on all of them when i go out to water (well, on the days when i manage to remember that sunset is at five now and don’t end up watering in the dark but)

also, flopping on top of my gf and demanding head skritches

Anti-fatness in healthcare

@bright_helpings wait, bring it from home? as in she herself works in a building where she herself can’t get her BP taken??

@mythologybot this does not seem like a healthy emotional response

@Betty i suspect i was not supposed to get “—“ for my first four translations 😂 (I got actual words after that, just bad RNG luck i assume)

#uspoli celli, stop clicking the links

@celli i feel you 🫂 i ended up just logging off yesterday in favor of distracting switch games but that one only works for so long

@xieliansbignaturals i also apparently bookmarked this webinar a few years ago but i can’t remember if i ever actually watched it 😅

@xieliansbignaturals neither are straightforward how-to’s alas, but:

SURJ’s disability resource page might be helpful in tracking down resources on the subject (as well as having a decent list of orgs people might want to involve themselves in): surj.org/resources/disability-

and Christy Tending wrote a great piece about their own experiences with disability and activism: longreads.com/2023/02/02/thing

@bright_helpings i have been going thru the Myths and Legends Podcast’s episodes on Journey to the West

@Lady i muted a european earlier today for having takes actually

@aescling @Lady @coriander do you mean their unsweetened version? they do not have a fake sugar version afaik

@britt is Midodrine available in Canada? My sister had good success w/it while she was on Adderall.

Also throwing out taking an electrolyte supplement (i go for skratchlabs.com ) and compression tights—which hopefully your doctor has already recommended but if they’re at ‘do your own research’ maybe not so i figured i’d double check

@bright_helpings @DrSuzanne so much of the stigma around disability is already “why havent you just gone to the right doctor to Fix This” that saying glasses are the same thing feels like it’d only make the situation worse tbh
