@runpunkrun huh, and looking back at the “history” does put “board turnover begins” for Oct 1 in 2020 also
@runpunkrun my memory from 2020 is that technically the new board members aren’t officially inducted (and therefore can’t do things) until the beginning of next meeting, at which point it will be too late?
@mysteriouscompassbot this seems bad i think we should leave
snakes, poor decisionmaking, injury
@compostablespork @twistylittlepassages still amazed that they actually tried to pick one up, to be honest—the idea of voluntarily putting myself in striking range of a copperhead is such a visceral nope for me. I saw a family pick up a couple with special snake grabbers a bit ago and even that felt like alarmingly close contact as a viewer
@edebill @q_aurelius yeah the federal gov’t will cover when insurance doesnt for whatever reason ( https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/programs/bridge/index.html ) but it hasn’t been well publicized so I don’t know how many people have actually successfully used? we had to tell our local pharmacist about the program
@Betty i openly go around telling people i can as a hobby and yet! not a single offer of excess cucumbers or apples to be found
@q_aurelius 😬 i wonder if theres something about the way multi shot appointments are formatted internally that makes it hard for them to see the 2nd/etc shots? that seems like a mistake you’d really not want to make!
@maya i also sometimes go for “unfortunately” for that one, tho you get a few extra syllables there
environmental issues
@elfwizard @eldang pointing out the incredible ecological damage caused by eg. oil companies or plastic manufacturers or whatever is not untrue but also my life would be very different if those companies went away!
Not necessarily *bad* different, I’m all for quiet streets full of bikes and electric busses and trains but like…you do gotta plan for that different at the people level and not just the society level at some point
@greyor@weirder.earth @twistylittlepassages putting it on the walkway would probably work fine!
@twistylittlepassages @greyor@weirder.earth unsolicited advice but if you want a low effort outdoor woodfire, solo stoves are unfortunately expensive but quite good for it — we mostly use ours on a patio but we’ve also dropped it straight onto the grass several times for various reasons and been able to pick it back up after without any sign it was there
@Betty @soph_sol yeah i think he expects her to be able to drop everything at a moments notice to attend various charity functions and other fancy rich people events and thats just not compatible with being a professional actress who has a show pretty much every friday/saturday night for long stretches of time
she resisted it at first but she took a long maternity leave and it was just difficult to break back in to the caliber of roles she was accustomed to afterwards
