@pixouls doubly hilarious bc like, i knew we had a lot of people from NJ but it rapidly became obvious they actually outnumbered the in-state students in this particular classroom
@pixouls had an entire class get derailed for like 5 whole min bc someone said they were from central jersey and then every other person from jersey in the room had to pick a side on the ‘does central jersey exist’ question
@twistylittlepassages @compostablespork its funny the supernatural being bit was only thrown in bc in the discussion that inspired this there was a lot of like “maybe it would be a stylized aesthetic where its not super obviously my face?” type comment and that was added as a “no because of Magic everyone will recognize it as you” clarifying point. But a lot of the poll respondees seem quite into the idea of a magic shirt 😆

If it helps I ended up tearing through it at a speed I’d forgotten I could manage—it doesn’t require a ton of close concentration to just wallow in the delightful iddyness of it all and, while there’s some politicking its largely either handwaved or laid out pretty straightforwardly—none of the chinese court drama “okay please remember these twenty peoples names, titles, courtesy names, motivations and relationships to eachother” lmao
@celli@octodon.social read hands of the emperor first and then you can poke around at the rest if you’re sufficiently hooked—that fic also assumes you’ve read at the feet of the sun & some of the novellas but just the first one will get you a good enough idea of the canon for you to manage
