re: food, questions

@aescling those types of spreads seem to be really in lately — i feel like in the last five years most of the grocery stores around here have gone from maybe nutella to having a bunch of choices

plus, Soom specifically is a Philly based brand so theres a disproportionate amount of tahini-based products at local retailers

food, questions

@alpine_thistle any replies that are not in the form of “i made x recipe and it was good/bad/okay/whatever” are getting thrown out lmao i can do a google search myself

food, questions

@alpine_thistle the earliest i’ll have time is this weekend so i figured i’d check whether someone else happened to have solved this exact problem but yeah that’s the most likely scenario

food, questions

Long story but I now I have two entire jars of Soom’s chocolate tahini and zero plans for them

Has anyone personally made cookies out of a similar flavored/sweetened nut & seed spread (eg. Nutella) that they can recommend a recipe for? otherwise I’ll just DIY a recipe myself based on my peanut butter cookies

@Betty hahaha yes both very true

(i buy a powdered electrolyte supplement that is basically just salty lemonade and it is indeed just the most delicious thing when you need electrolytes ASAP)

@Betty @soph_sol oh definitely! i think our bodies are pretty good at going ‘i am not getting everything i need, lets try eating different things?’ and also at recognizing when something does have the thing by making it suddenly taste great (tho those impulses can also go haywire, eg. iron deficiency causing PICA)

@soph_sol @Betty pine needles are also an excellent way not to die of scurvy! lots of vitamin c in there

@montag would there be a meta page that gives directions on how to make your website’s directions section

@tuffy@trashy.enchanted.quest also in a similar vein, whether or not reading is fun really depends on what you have available to read

@tuffy@trashy.enchanted.quest eh i mean — kids are really good at picking up Vibes from the adults around them, if their mom/dad/teacher is low key treating reading like a shitty chore then they wont wanna do it

@monorail it did fit with the “i look in the mirror and see Holly” theme p well though!

text-based game thoughts, mention of LLMs (AI stuff)

@montag fallen london isn’t a true text based game in that it has a GUI but i think it’s close enough to still act as a case study for how complex a world you can create in one

@soph_sol @Forestofglory teahouse ghost ( youtube.com/@TeaHouseGhost ) has a pretty approachable series on the topic!

Honestly though, while having the right terminology is definitely helpful when it comes to figuring out whether you’ll like teas before buying them, once i’ve actually made the tea i try to prioritize my own tastes and experience over whats “right” in terms of paying attention. Anything thats important enough to impact your experience of the tea is important!

@Anke wikipedia says these are universal in German school, which they definitely are not here in the US which might account for some of the vagueness you’re getting re:names

However it also claims that we either use “protractor triangle” or loan in Geodreieck, which seems reasonable consdiering English’s usual proclivity for borrowing words from everyone
