@platypus yeah this is why i continue to buy apple hardware despite not loving everything they do -- their hardware generally lasts me 7+ years and it's hard to find that anywhere else (my phone from 2016 was still in great condition when I upgraded earlier this month, I think my last laptop was 2013 and if Zoom wasn't such a bloated monster of a program I would have happily kept using it for another few years)
re: alc
@alpine_thistle @LovesTha @ljwrites peoples parents giving them wine is generally legal here too -- you can't buy alcohol or drink it in public but consumption in your own residence is fine
re: religion (?)
@alis i love that Catholicism has a special term for systemic oppression now
re: religion (?)
@Rowyn it very much does but I'm generally pretty jaded about the catholic church so it's always a pleasant surprise when we end up on the same side of an issue
@platypus as one does
@mcmoots @twistylittlepassages yeah same. I’m actually working on getting rid of that account (for unrelated reasons) so soon they wont be my problem anymore haha
@kiesa @hafnia@weirder.earth ????? The author is getting your money regardless, and it’s not like they’d have any way of knowing I didn’t finish
@twistylittlepassages @mcmoots the roughly latin based last name i made up in middle school as a nome de plume is apparently a real Italian name that belongs to a real Italian woman
I get emails from her bank sometimes but fortunately they’re only the like, advertising other services/letting you know our hours have changed bc covid emails and not her monthly statement or anything important

Covid, question for students
@human_dude the state library system offers take home self testing kits, so you can keep them around to test yourself if you think you’ve been exposed / develop symptoms
The university also offers on-site asymptomatic testing on weekdays for free to the community (symptomatic testing is done at a separate location that is also open on weekends)
@Lady hmmmm
@hafnia@weirder.earth @twistylittlepassages idk i like it fine, i use it to send people cat photos mostly so i dont worry about the details too much
