wall street ⅌ the new york times
« Washington’s debt limit drama has Wall Street betting that the United States will employ a fallback option to ensure it can make good on payments to its lenders even if Congress doesn’t raise the nation’s borrowing limit before America runs out of cash.
But that untested idea has significant flaws and has been ruled out by the Biden administration, which could make it less of a bulwark against disaster than many investors and politicians are counting on. » lmao

re: a question with important ramifications for pokémon classification
nobody has written a White-Striped Basculin fic yet to nobody's surprise
somebody has written a Combat Breed Tauros fic but they tagged it “Paldean Tauros”
it isn't synned yet but buddy they still haven't wrangled “Meowscarada”
re: a question with important ramifications for pokémon classification
now i am wondering how A·O·3 handles White-Striped Basculin and i’m scared to find out
re: a question with important ramifications for pokémon classification
the only distinguishing factor between regional variant and form is that eggs match the region they are created in but match the form of the mother
BUT regional variant is commonly considered a higher level of differentiation than form (e·g regional variants have different evolutionary families in the T·C·G; A·O·3 syns form and gender to the common species but leaves regional variants distinct)
re: a question with important ramifications for pokémon classification
i WANT there to be such a thing as “Paldean Tauros” (regional variant with 3 forms) but there could just as easily just be “Tauros” (common variant with 4 forms, 3 of which are only obtainable in Paldea)
re: a question with important ramifications for pokémon classification
for that matter, when you breed common (Kantonian) Tauros in Paldea what do you get?
re: a question with important ramifications for pokémon classification
solving this question will be my very first task once Pokémon HOME compatibility comes for Scarlet and Violet it’s eating me alive
re: a question with important ramifications for pokémon classification
if you get :—
• White-Striped Basculin
—: then Pokémon HOME is likely wrong and White-Striped Basculin is not a regional form. if you get :—
• Red‐Striped Basculin
• Blue‐Striped Basculin
—: then White-Striped Basculin *is* a hisuian regional form despite not having “Hisuian” in its name
the same question will apply to Combat Breed Tauros, Blaze Breed Tauros, and Aqua Breed Tauros once they are available in another game
