nobody has written a White-Striped Basculin fic yet to nobody's surprise

somebody has written a Combat Breed Tauros fic but they tagged it “Paldean Tauros”

it isn't synned yet but buddy they still haven't wrangled “Meowscarada”

now i am wondering how A·O·3 handles White-Striped Basculin and i’m scared to find out

the only distinguishing factor between regional variant and form is that eggs match the region they are created in but match the form of the mother

BUT regional variant is commonly considered a higher level of differentiation than form (e·g regional variants have different evolutionary families in the T·C·G; A·O·3 syns form and gender to the common species but leaves regional variants distinct)

i WANT there to be such a thing as “Paldean Tauros” (regional variant with 3 forms) but there could just as easily just be “Tauros” (common variant with 4 forms, 3 of which are only obtainable in Paldea)

for that matter, when you breed common (Kantonian) Tauros in Paldea what do you get?

solving this question will be my very first task once Pokémon HOME compatibility comes for Scarlet and Violet it’s eating me alive

if you get :—

• White-Striped Basculin

—: then Pokémon HOME is likely wrong and White-Striped Basculin is not a regional form. if you get :—

• Red‐Striped Basculin
• Blue‐Striped Basculin

—: then White-Striped Basculin *is* a hisuian regional form despite not having “Hisuian” in its name

the same question will apply to Combat Breed Tauros, Blaze Breed Tauros, and Aqua Breed Tauros once they are available in another game

when you breed a white‐striped basculin in paldea, what do you get

i haven't hit A·O·3’s limits on tagging yet but i will someday and when i do i’ll definitely complain about it here

how do i handle this?? just end the tag in an ellipsis??

it might just be impossible to tag a relationship between a character introduced in Pokémon White Version and one introduced in Pokémon White Version 2
