@coriander i mean i think it had more concepts but not more fleshing out
@noelle is it really a pro tip when the pros frequently forget to do it
@coriander lots of interesting concepts, none of them fully fleshed out was the sense i gathered
@coriander but this is more like a law of nature than a rule in a rulebook
anyway wild to project a religion which is actively anticipating apocalypse onto one which says time and time again “the apocalypse is bad and we must prevent it”
(zelda is not actually a christ figure as she does not die for anyone’s sins, she victoriously defeats satan in holy battle, WHICH IS WHY THE CHRISTIANITY METAPHOR MAKES NO SENSE, but if you were GOING to pick a christ figure…)
the especially funny thing is that nobody ever picks up on the obvious parallels between zelda of skyward sword and jesus so it's not even a christianity founded in anything real
@aschmitz that’s definitely true on phones, but it seems to be the case on desktop OS’s as well, especially as it seems APFS changes which filenames it considers valid depending on Unicode version, and i don’t see them upgrading APFS in a minor OS release
i don’t actually care about the emoji so much (they would be nice to have, don’t get me wrong), but there are some non‐emoji characters in Unicode 16 i’ve been waiting for for a while and would really like to have
@gaditb (i will probably just require libzip)
given how long this is taking to boot i am guessing that running a desktop operating system thru QEMU emulation on an original M1 macbook pro is not viable
@gaditb but the shorter version here is that i’ve already resigned myself to requiring libxml2 and libxslt, which are widely‐available if not POSIX, but don’t want to have to choose between Info-Zip, libzip, and libarchive, and would rather if pax just had a zip format added instead
@gaditb there aren’t POSIX XML capabilities, but i’d draw a distinction between content creation and content packaging. i think it’s reasonable to allow OS‐specific tools for content creation while expecting content packaging to be portable across OS’s. (i also would love if XML were POSIX, namely the core functionality of xmllint and xsltproc, but that’s never going to happen.)
