@witchfynder_finder i think in WA McDonald's uses Seattle's Best coffee??

which, i don't drink coffee but i hear is pretty good? like i'd get McDonald's espresso before starbucks lol

“there is no ethical consumption under capitalism” buddy bosses are the problem not consumers

one time i named a wurmple after my girlfriend and it evolved into a beautifly

one time i shared a pokémon fanfiction with my girlfriend and said “this reminds me of you” and she was like “wow this makes me feel terrible about myself” and i was like “yeah but i love you”

let's go!

my girlfriend was somewhat ambivalent about nyan shogi

@witchfynder_finder choices in video games peaked at bulbasaur charizard or squirtle

@prehensile the other piece of advice i might have is to try to learn how to view your failed attempts with critical distance and, at worst, detachment, and at best nurturing care

and redraw them. set your sights not on doing them perfectly but on making them slightly better. if you succeed, note what you did to make them slightly better and try to do that the first time in the future

for me, improving my art has always taken equal parts studying things external and studying my own work, and when i plateau it's usually because i've focused for too long on one and need to switch to the other

at the absolute worst you will have just spent a lot of time gaining a better understanding of yourself, which is not a bad failure mode imo

at best, you might actually improve your art skills as well

@prehensile (a) do figure drawing; it's incredibly helpful

(b) i think “from imagination” is a loaded term. it's not that there is a fully formed idea of a person in your brain and then you transmit that to paper. it's that you have enough habits from drawing people built up that when you put pen to paper, the path of least resistance is to do the thing which looks person-like. the image emerges through communication between artist and medium; it's not there from the outset

as you practice more and build your repertoire your options for communication expand. you have more techniques to draw from. but the finished product will always be a surprise; you guide it but don't control it

you were just out gardening and now you are undressing for your bath. you have already removed your gown; what comes next?

it's 2022 and i still don't know who Biff and Eho are

you were just out gardening and now you are undressing for your bath. you have already removed your gown; what comes next?

« there was something about being up in Skyloft that made him feel completely at peace. Was it the lack of monsters? He couldn’t be sure. »

that bit in chihayafuru where oe is like “when i was younger i used to take offence at the idea of writing love poems in a competition. i was so immature. those poets were competing to see who could best move their audience with their words”

i suppose writing is especially hard when the thing you are writing is very unlike almost everything you have read
