@Rob_T_Firefly one option is “ser”, which is stolen from Dragon Age (/ other fantasy fiction?) but look it’s a really good word
if you don't need a direct analogue for sir/ma’am specifically, “mixter” (from Mx) has been used as an analogue for mister/missus and could fill that role
@djsundog ugh this would be extremely useful to me
very interestingly, Safari’s X·M·L processor moves comments present in the internal subset of the D·T·D out of the DOCTYPE and places them just before the root element
i would like to say this is non‐standard behaviour, but there actually ⁜is⁜ no standard regarding taking an X·M·L document and parsing it into the D·O·M

uhhh chinese media literacy question
@garbados@friend.camp i guess the way i would describe it is, let's say your name is Belinda Jones, and another member of the Jones family comes up to you and says “remember, you’re a Jones”
it doesn't matter if you were adopted, or if you are a Jones by birth or marriage, or how closely or distantly related you are to this other Jones, you have a social and familial responsibility to the Joneses on account of being a part of the family and sharing their name
and it's that same sort of idea only applied to China as a whole
uhhh chinese media literacy question
@garbados@friend.camp i would guess it is more anti-imperialist than ethnic although i can't say i've seen those films to necessarily know
like the idea very much is that as a citizen of china you should be using your labour in a way which serves china, but chinese nationalism is less founded in ethnicity than in the west; it's more built on social obligation, like, as a member of this community you have certain responsibilities towards it; as a citizen of china you have responsibilities to china (and, one would hope, china has responsibilities towards you)
