@thephd in my experience the simplest solution on macos is just to use rbenv always
but yes, macos installs a number of programming languages that they really shouldn't for legacy reasons to keep people's old workflows from unexpectedly breaking on a new OS upgrade
used to also ship with python 2.7, but they finally managed to drop that one after many years of deprecation notices
for you japanese scholars out there, know the old english scholars are just as salty about unicode unification practices
i don’t want the unicode consortium to know about this because they will Not like it but also, hey medievalists, it works
@packbat depends whether we’re talking screws or cards
i make this post but actually the communists i’ve known have, generally speaking, had some of the worst mental health problems and yet some of the best, most highly-developed toolkits for dealing with them, which absolutely involved a theory of historical materialism to at least a small degree
like HKE is a wanker right? Dream Catalogue is sus? there’s a veneer of British and, to a perhaps slightly lesser extent, new American orientalism subtly coating much of the scene? it’s perhaps been thoroly infiltrated by anime avatar cryptofash?
these are the vibes i get but obviously the music itself contains no elucidation, nothing is publicly documented, and any Truth about what the scene actually is/was like would require inside knowledge from somebody who was much more involved than i
@noracodes i’m not going to have any answers but i am curious as to what set of affordances you are looking for
@aescling specifically å was encoded as <U+0061,U+030A> and not <U+00E5>
@aescling yes
