@coriander anyway of course a kibi language can't be normal and requires a kibi custom character set which is why i've been spending the past month writing text rendering code lmao
@coriander i have an existing corpus of hundreds of words and grammars and an entire linguistic history from when i was in high school but it's like, in a bunch of XML files in lots of different places and it's kind of a pain to work with
@coriander i have a project like that too; i haven't touched it in a fair while but i’m trying to build up some infrastructure for the conlanging

telling a story is hard and getting it right might be a once‐in‐a‐lifetime thing
but building a world to set that story in is itself a lifelong project, so
@coriander it’s very good writing imo
as a teenager when i was first really getting started writing i strongly believed that capturing the Process was as important as creating an End Product and it is only as an adult that i have really come to realize how entirely atypical that mentality is in the writing world
i encourage people to disagree with me but instead people just disagree with my posts 😩
this college offered an english degree but its library held virtually none of the most widely-read pieces of english literature
at my alma mater’s library the “fun to read” section was like, three tiny rows set into the wall of the quiet area
i think university libraries should have a budget for, and invest in, things which are fun to read
if you’re a nerd, go ahead and read frankenstein and carmilla, it can’t hurt
as a romance author i think you will develop so much faster and better today studying Twilight and like, a handful of good anime than you will studying like 99% of contemporary popular romance literature
i don’t LIKE that this is the case, i just think that it is
i mean i think it could be better obviously and i have some notable disagreements with choices it made in story structure but it walked so that somebody else could run
