@noracodes if only they implemented an activity feed API endpoint in cohost 😈😝
it is kind of sad that social media APIs tend to only emphasize “what is in this feed now” and not “how has this feed changed” 😔
@noracodes ah, i see the problem, yeah
@noracodes the most important thing to understand regarding push/pull on the fediverse is that we don't have GREAT auth mechanisms across servers, which makes it hard to ensure that the people pulling are actually the people who should have access to the posts. this basically means pull-only solutions would only work with public content and not anything with a limited audience.
ignoring theory and just focusing on what is practically featured in mastodon today, pull isn't implemented at all, you have to do push
edits should produce pushes of an edit activity though; remember activitypub federares activities, not posts, and an activity can be whatever you want it to be

no, opinion writer and media critic, phenotypical features are not what have bound together peoples and cultures across the vast annals of history, and using them as a clunky shorthand for actual cultural heritage is demeaning to everybody involved
i am being informed that their issue was not, in fact, with structural dynamics vis‐à‐vis private companies and their lack of oversight; they just really didn’t like Elon Musk in particular
Administrator / Public Relations for GlitchCat. Not actually glitchy, nor a cat. I wrote the rules for this instance.
