@aescling like most of the work is probably just moving your previous stuff out of the API controller and into a shared space

@aescling probably just refactoring out a method for getting trending tags including always_trending ones and having both the API and the public pages call that

@aescling yes but same; there's no API call there it's just a Rails view (pretty sure)

@aescling public pages probably don't call the API; they're statically generated

why are there so many popular songs by men about being horny

i’m a millennial, dude. my brain tunes that stuff out

did you know “near” is “nigh‐er” “next” is “nigh‐est”

@aescling in fairness it’s an easy mistake but yeah the second argument to ToPrimitive is just a hint and not a guarantee of the actual return type

@aescling what no it doesn’t

(spec text follows)

When BigInt is called with argument value, the following steps are taken:

1. If NewTarget is not undefined, throw a TypeError exception.
2. Let prim be ? ToPrimitive(value, `number`).
3. If Type(prim) is Number, return ? NumberToBigInt(prim).
4. Otherwise, return ? ToBigInt(value).

(end spec text)

ToPrimitive(string, `number`) === string since strings are already primitives; that step does nothing

@aescling ~~if web developers knew how to read a spec we wouldn’t need the MDN~~
