the slippage that queer “romance” is somehow equivalent to straight “romance” or that it even makes sense to refer to the former as “romance” at all is part of the reason why queers opposed gay marriage

let’s just scroll the dial all the way back to that time where if you didn’t date and eventually marry a man you would be viewed as an old spinster and have zero social safety net

lesbians have been figuring aromanticism as inherently political for like half a century

@astraluma i’ve had a similar take before where instead of “50% envy” it’s “frequently survivors of childhood and early‐adulthood abuse”; i think there’s a lot of “feelings” which impact trans community relations but which get seen as individual traits/issues instead

i’m in a fire emblem fan server and all the comments are things like “the pokémon fandom is terrible they were all clamouring for BDSP and now they’re all trashing it” and then i’m in a pokémon fan server and it’s just like 98% not even talking about the new games and the remaining 2% “BDSP looks cool i’m excited for it”

the pokémon fandom is fine and chill, it’s the pokémon fans who are too good for fandom who are all assholes

getting arbitrarily frustrated over people saying “the pokémon fandom” and not “pokémon fans”
