the emojipedia blogpost about ✨sparkles✨ seemed to think that its sarcastic usage derives from ✨sPonGEbob TexT✨ but i’m fairly positive that it predates that by a fair bit

we’ve been using sparkles for so long over here on mastodon that we even have trans ones

did emojipedia really just learn about ✨sparkles✨ in october
