they’re called “little bites” now which as a child i would just find demeaning
remember when mini wheats were too big so they invented even more mini wheats

like i used to listen to the christopher nolan batman movie soundtracks but then the mad max soundtrack came out and it’s like those but what if they were good
@aescling i haven’t
and musicals unfortunately i find mostly unimpressive from a musical perspective; it is rare to find one which is compositionally interesting in addition to having good lyrics
maybe i just don’t watch enough musicals though
also mad max: fury road has a great soundtrack, listen to it sometime
you may say: but kibi, the purpose of a movie soundtrack is simply to frame the action on screen, and having too much soundtrack depth or interest would be distracting
to which i would reply: clearly you have not seen lord of the rings
like he makes compositions which do their jobs but they’re not deep or interesting, they’re just functional with rare exceptions
i think hans zimmer is not that good of a composer

even in star wars george lucas made the intentional decision not to have luke be a jawa
i think it’s interesting how white male fantasy has a tradition of making the most interesting fantasy people not be the protagonist, who is mostly boring despite being the chosen one
@witchfynder_finder i also love fantasy a lot more than sci‐fi lol so i mean there’s bias in this room :P
@witchfynder_finder like Back On This Point but i think it’s beautifully ironic that they took Dune, a book with a reputation for being Extremely Hard Sci‐fi, and turned it into this
and they did it without really compromising any of the sci‐fi elements either
@witchfynder_finder i was more like “that’s what i wish sci‐fi would be” tbh
@witchfynder_finder people who think dune is too slow are the same people who didn't cry at the end of totoro
