@vaporeon_ the game is not creepy at any other point in the game

@vaporeon_ there's a mechanic in the game where an enemy called the "scoutmaster" will chase after you and almost certainly kill you if you are playing multiplayer and leave your teammates behind (you climb too high past your teammates while they are still alive)

the scoutmaster's bugle will give you and your teammates a "morale boost" but it will also spawn the scoutmaster even if you're playing solo or if your friends are not left behind

i had also never seen the scoutmaster before (although I was aware it was a game mechanic) and it has long spindly limbs and moves in an uncanny way and it made me shit my pants

anyway, that was my biggest jump scare of 2025, and i've watched Weapons

70 minutes into my peak run: oooooh a "scoutmaster's bugle", i wonder what this does :)

@monorail ok i see. i got it after eating a bunch of cooked food, lost all my bonus stamina, and both times i tried it i got a gazillion cold damage so i wrongly believed it just gives you a gazillion cold damage at the cost of all your bonus stamina
