re: Sinners (2025)

@The_T @Alexis If you want my very quick opinions:

Rocky I: Good, if you can stomach the relationship between Rocky and Adrianna whose first date depicts what is very much a 1976 understanding of healthy boundaries. It's a really good character study and tribute to the human spirit

Rocky II: The best "sports movie" of them all. Still has the gritty feel of the first film but indulges more in the excitement of the sport. The final fight is awesome

Rocky III: Either a horrible perversion of everything the first film stands for, or a delightful and charming piece of 80s cheese. Not sure which.

Rocky IV: It's Rocky III but Rocky fights communism with the power of boxing. Weird movie

Rocky V: It tries to recapture the spirit of the original films while also holding Rocky accountable for his actions in III and IV, which should be good but it's not.

Rocky VI: This one is pretty good. It's shot in an interesting way and explores mortality and aging. Unexpectedly melancholic. It has a good heart.

Creed: It's really fucking good watch it or else

re: Sinners (2025)

@The_T well if you do watch them all please tell me your opinions!!

re: Sinners (2025)

@The_T you don't have to watch the Rocky movies to enjoy creed

which is good because they are a mixed bag

@coriander IT'S HOOOOOT IN THE D
HOW THE FUCK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KEEP PEACE

re: Sinners (2025)

@The_T If you haven't seen Creed I highly recommend it!!

@coriander sorry goblin but i also have not been enjoying the heat lately.

@lapis sometimes i feel great FOMO from having not been on tumblr back when it was big

Something really cool about having a physics degree is that I got an A in thermodynamics and I still don't know how a refrigerator works

@lapis this is how i learned about the vivziepop homestuck pilot, which i cannot believe is real

@cam fuck I wanted to post this! now what do I post!!!!!!

re: shouting

@aescling @vaporeon_ the python syntax forces a new variable to be added to the current scope, something the javascript IIFEs do not do

there is no need to perfectly replicate javascript IIFE behavior because it is impossible

re: shouting

@aescling @vaporeon_ what is wrong with having an iife that is a procedure can use again?

re: shouting

@aescling @vaporeon_ personally what i would do is

def iife(func):
func()
return func

@iife
my_func():
print('my_func')

So that the original function still exists

re: shouting

@aescling @vaporeon_ whatever the return value of the decorator is becomes the value of the function you decorated
