@aescling nah we just felt like watching a science fiction movie
relatedly, my wife has pointed out that the Wachowskis sure have a thing about movies where a technologically advanced society consumed humans in a way that doesn't really make sense
@aschmitz yeah but the interaction model is just kinda very different. loke the reactions need to be sent as emails and even supporting clients seem to treat “somebody reacted to an email you’re CCed on” as warranting a notification. which does make sense since people don’t often look back at emails that they’ve already sent/read where they could see the reactions. but very different from what one would expect from chat systems with reactji.
@aschmitz gmail has it apparently.
@Lady @aescling is this really physically impossible? it’s also attested in Klallam (for several non-glottal stops and affricates, including [t], though it instead geminates the glottal stop and all fricatives). i don’t see why it should be less possible than sequences of different stops? it certainly seems easy to pronounce e.g. [cæt.te] with the first t released briefly before the following one (though it is as always possible there’s some other sound sneaking in to separate them that i’m missing)
@aescling like cat but with a long t
@aschmitz okay apparently in this case it was helped along by cold water from washing my hands
@aschmitz supposedly cold leads to vasoconstriction leads to smaller fingers (as one of the factors)
@aschmitz various factors cause seasonal variation in the size of a person's fingers, particularly relevant if they wear rings
i also read kakeochi girl (run away with me, girl). very good but very emotionally intense. it does work out in the end but damn these women go through some stuff first
in yuri manga reading news:
i read superwomen in love! honey trap and rapid rabbit. my favorite part was when she said “It’s Yuri Time” and they yuried all over the place. (joke. that was not actually the best part, but it genuinely did happen)
more seriously it was fun. nice light break between some of the heavier dramas i was reading. it did also have a satisfying if a bit simplistic overarching plot.
