they're not even fortunes! the first time there were ads in the fortune cookies it was something else and like, they were still fortunes iirc... possibly themed fortunes, but... not just, jokes or calls to action.

@Lady that is indeed very much the opposite of my problem. i am writing in a close, intimate perspective, and i'm thinking that perhaps, although the protagonist is somewhat repressed when it comes to the targets of her sexuality (at this point), that might not also be the case about the bare fact of her being a sexual being.

i mean, i'm definitely squeamish about writing sex, but it may also be appropriate to be discreet about this particular instance. also i need to get over the squeamishness. there's like, at least 3 or 4 sex scenes that are going to have to happen on-page, purely in terms of what's essential to the narrative arc
