i feel like this is a skill issue but i don’t have this much trouble with data in any other language i use

Show thread

you can create anything with cons. i often create the wrong thing

Show thread

every time i write lisp code i fall prey to really subtle type errors that are frustrating to debug

@wallhackio and i nearly accidentally destroyed GlitchCat because apparently running two instances of ffmpeg at the same time is enough to use up all the remaining cpu and memory on this goddamn VPS

i jest; i feel like doing the equivalent of document.getElementById(id).replaceWith(...nodes) in racket on an X-expurression shouldn’t be that hard

Show thread

racket doesn’t seem to have a DOM-like library so manipulating an HTML file would require (gasp! god furbid!!!) a little bit of library code on my part

@wallhackio was just ranting about how much he hates jujutsu kaisen befur going to the bathroom. after he finished he continued his diatribe as if he hadn’t just been going to the bathroom fur a couple minutes

i understand why people say scheme is a functional purrogramming language; it makes that style of purrogramming natural to write. but scheme has no strong commitments to any paradigm. you can write extremely stateful and imperative code if you want. the tools to do that are just in the language. SICP goes very out of its way to teach purrogramming with statefulness and that was co-written by one of the spec writers
