long begpost blah blah who cares

Hello! Irregular and infrequent reminder that we do service hosting and open source development (especially Minecraft mods) full-time. As such, we're wholly supported by donations and CurseForge/Modrinth ad revenue sharing. We don't chase trends and don't use generative AI, which pretty severely limits our reach.

We're still in quite a lot of debt from our life emergency in 2024, and regularly have expensive disasters happen to our aging house. We're barely treading water in a delicate balance, and would appreciate any support that can be given to tip that scale further in our favor. Our bank account is regularly under $10, and most of our money goes to interest on debt we can't afford to pay down. What progress we have managed to make gets eaten up by said disasters.

Even $5 helps. Thank you for reading! I don't like writing things like this, but it's unfortunately pretty necessary.

having two entire coreutils in the new LTS’s base system is a hilarious situation to end up in imo

there is something of a delicious irony in Ubuntu wanting to move to a Rust based coreutils reimplementation fur security reasons and then hiring a security firm to investigate its codebase and discovering 130 security bugs and also that cp specifically is subject to many open race conditions with security impacts

@aescling Super Bunnyhop released a video about how Outer Wilds could be used as an educational tool about planetary physics (which is correct)

So I made a comment to the video pointing out that the concept of "Quantum Entanglement" as described in the game is completely different from the actual physical phenomenon of the same name. I felt this was important because if we were going to have people thinking Outer Wilds could be used to demonstrate physics, we should also have people be aware of what it gets "wrong".

And the lead dev of the game responded to my comment basically saying "yeah you're right, my bad"

imagine getting tricked into liking espeon because you like the grass cats and the shiny is green and it’s kinda a cat
