i hope i’m wrong, or that the devs improve their animation work before release!! that would be good!! but…
it would be ideal for there to be an actual competitor to smash because nintendo is absolute trash in important aspects, but unfortunately, æsthetics are really really important to a fighting game; i think it’s gonna make a lot of people skip it, even if it actually is really good or even just interesting
for comparison, look at footage of the upcoming nickelodeon fighter, and then watch some strive gameplay. totally outclasses the former, not even close.
speaking of great animation: guilty gear strive looks so goddamn good in motion
scott benson put it in a games of the year list and extra frames included it as an example of a game with great animation
