we’ve been using mastodon fairly quietly for a while now, keeping up with friends and posting over-off thoughts and such, often on private. you’re free to follow, but as we like to keep our home timeline small, we’ll probably not follow back
i’m tryïng to remember why we joined the fediverse in the first place my best guess is really just the same kind of motivation that led us to use (s/)qmail instead of postfix; we just like smaller weirder things. also we were lonely as FUCK
been a little over three years since when i first created a mastodon account
there was a pretty bad CVE which thankfully had been fixed already in the version we’re currently running
no changes that affect my use case but i’ll get around to it, ideally tonight
ah FUCK s/qmail just released an update
i know something about federation doesn’t allow username changes that remote servers don’t see as a new account
do i remember correctly that masto federation looks up accounts by acct instead of by the numerical id
i am actually running a qmail fork in production in 2021
yeah i could just use pinafore still but i want to actually use local only posts and such
pinafore lets you turn that off and i miss that
