i feel like this is a skill issue but i don’t have this much trouble with data in any other language i use

you can create anything with cons. i often create the wrong thing

every time i write lisp code i fall prey to really subtle type errors that are frustrating to debug

@vaporeon_ racket, because it’s what i know. it’s a heavily extended scheme implementation (with a somewhat loose relation to the standard). my understanding is it tends to be mostly used in academia

@onfy @vaporeon_ @wallhackio yeah i remember exa posting about getting tired of mastodon's terrible transcode quality lmao

@onfy @vaporeon_ @wallhackio mastodon transcodes all media uploads with ffmpeg unconditionally

@onfy @vaporeon_ @wallhackio two instances of ffmpeg at the same time used up well over 1GB of ram and consumed all the RAM the server had remaining

@onfy @vaporeon_ @wallhackio caleb and i nearly took down the server by both trying to upload this video to GlitchCat at the same time lmao

needlessly purrovocative

@vaporeon_ @wallhackio they recommend deno but you can use node instead :3

@vaporeon_ @wallhackio secretly it was solving js-based challenges in hacky python the whole time but it's moved that out to a library that invokes any of a couple js runtimes because the devs got frustrated with dealing with that part of their codebase

@wallhackio @vaporeon_ we need to teach :bumby_head::bumby_tail: how to rsync a file to a directory on his VPS that apache serves statically

@vaporeon_ @wallhackio wonder if you need to update yt-dlp? maybe youtube kids fucks up downloaders?

@vaporeon_ @onfy @IntrepidVector bad choice of words. i meant you dock it into something that makes it act sort of like a desktop

@wallhackio and i nearly accidentally destroyed GlitchCat because apparently running two instances of ffmpeg at the same time is enough to use up all the remaining cpu and memory on this goddamn VPS
