@naye ooh purple! i’m glad you got to see it even if you couldn’t snap a pic :)

@cynthianconspiracy @Anke oh part of why i noted it so strongly is because without the caps my brain initially parsed the c as being next to an e and therefore being soft (like cede or ceiling)

but your interpretation is probably closer to how the hypothetical english speaking McEnnedy would pronounce their name yeah

hellsites meta

@softadansey there are some similar structures to both sites that could just be rewarding the same kinds of behavior maybe?

eg. I’m strongly anti-fulltext search because it seemed to more or less directly produce the “people who don’t want to be sharing space are suddenly sharing space and mad about that” phenomena which in turn made the culture much more receptive to aphobes/antis/etc (who then went back and used those tools to intentionally put themselves in the spaces of people who don’t want to be sharing space with them). But twitter’s got fulltext search too and people often seem to cite similar issues for why they don’t like it there

@Anke struggling to think of a time i have ever seen lady liberty on a food product? Can’t definitively say never but definitely some Weird Vibes there

Mcennedy is presumably a variant spelling of McKennedy?? I have never seen it spelled this way in the US so I’m kinda fascinated (i assume theres some sort of phonetic / spelling restriction prompting the K drop?)

Mixing US and Canadian iconography is generally weird and not done, but seems especially ill put when the US does actually make its own maple syrup. Most of what I buy is from either PA (aka local farms) or Vermont (which has a reputation for making Really Good syrup)

Generally this design feels very…retro? If someone told me this was a movie prop for something set in the 90’s I’d be much more inclined to believe them than saying they saw it at a modern American grocery store

@naye yay library! that looks like such a cozy spot to curl up and read

@Forestofglory i’m glad you enjoyed! that tree’s in a protected courtyard so it always blooms a little early — i’ve been enjoying watching its progress :)

@Forestofglory its kinda drab and rainy here today but the cherry blossoms are cheerfully budding despite the weather

@Jo ha yeah i thought there was a chance that we’d found the same listing! glad i could provide such a definitive answer then :)

@Jo huh interesting! possibly he was also the assay master for certain internal trading / verification then?

@Jo in philamuseum.org/collection/obj which uses that phrasing the geography metadata further down the page specifies “Probably made in Netherlands, Europe”

@XanIndigo @WanderingBeekeeper it can be helpful with alt juggling i think? i still get pings to my (completely defunct for over a year) .shop account sometimes because people grabbed the wrong one off the selector and i imagine thats only heightened if both accounts are active
