kidposting, language, autism thoughts
@ljwrites i mean obv this shouldn’t be your primary mechanism for deciding whether or not to utilize it *anyway*, tater’s needs & comfort should come first
kidposting, language, autism thoughts
@ljwrites i’m not up on the research but my understanding was AAC normally aids verbal speech development rather than hindering?
@Lady may as well go all in and add W too
Ace Representation Gathering. Boosts appreciated.

Food
@kiesa yeah molasses definitely isn’t for everyone! I’m sure you’ll figure something out :)
I don’t think it’s too common outside of PA, but its easy enough to make if you ever decide to try it. I’m a big fan even tho its generally regarded as a bit old fashioned these days
Food
@kiesa shoofly pie is very cakey, if eldest child likes molasses?
PNW ecosystem question
@Lore ah in that case I wouldn’t worry too much — it’s very hard to kill off!
PNW ecosystem question
@Lore from what I understand, it’s benefits are that its sturdy & low growing, which makes it a good ground cover and its flowers provide nectar to bees. Nice enough characteristics to have in a plant, certainly, but there are lots of native plants that will do both of those things & also be better suited to the local ecosystem.
PNW ecosystem question
@Lore hopefully someone else will have a fuller / more useful reply! But since it looked like no one had answered yet I figured I’d share what I did know
PNW ecosystem question
@Lore if you mean Lamium purpureum, then it is native to Europe — some plants do manage to provide useful ecological niches in nonnative contexts, particularly ones that have been around for a while like dead nettles but I’d generally recommend choosing a similar native plant if at all possible
@RussSharek i’m glad you’re okay! That sounds like it was a rough fall
food, alcohol
@pagrus it looks delicious, I’d be v excited too
food, alcohol
@pagrus nice!
@Cyborgneticz wheely boys are a local institution!
@pamela just to earn maximum irony points, that was probably posted within days of this «UC Office of the President spokesperson Ryan King said in an emailed statement that the UC is committed to continuing to pay fair wages and providing benefits for all of its employees.» ( https://dailybruin.com/2022/03/17/university-of-california-workers-gather-in-protest-for-fair-compensation )
@twistylittlepassages @human and I was about to go “well he did get assassinated” so I guess there’s more than one issue with this theory 😂
@naga@octodon.social @ljwrites I do think this idea has gotten a bit less prevalent over the years, thankfully, especially along certain axes — you see a lot more books with female main characters & queer main characters at the Hugos these days!
That’s a hard lesson to learn, but I’m glad your kiddo will get to see all sorts of people right from the start
@alpine_thistle yeah that makes sense. Still kinda hilarious timing tho!
