@Lady why were you in a room full of published authors

@technomancy 4th of July has already got fireworks, easy enough to add some founding father effigy destruction in!

re: BotW

@rabbithearth i stalled out in the exact same place when i played thru botw. Something about the setup is extremely demotivating even tho it's not actually super difficult

i messed up the a & b labels here but ah well you kno what i mean

@Lady yeah i’ve definitely seen the tragic mirror of this trope as well

But like, i do think ‘last minute save’ is an established variant

I realize this is highly specific but I feel in my heart that it's a trope and I'm struggling to think of examples (besides the one that inspired the q)

Hey does anyone know of any media where: character a semi-randomly gives a speech about how much they trust character b, unknowingly guilting character b into not going through with or saving character b from their murder plot?

alcohol, bad ideas

@hafnia@weirder.earth @Cyannin @pagrus PA is extremely weird about alcohol, its true

Philly recently (like four years ago maybe) changed their laws about liquor licenses and this made a lot of people mad bc the artificial scarcity meant selling them was part of a lot of bar owners’ ‘cash out and retire’ plan

Canadian politics (procedural, not partisan)

@gnomon not sure i’m disappointed or relieved at the lack of pun options with Amos after the rather on the nose obviousness of Cummings

Canadian politics (procedural, not partisan)

@gnomon wait is the guy who’s last name is cumming the guy who showed up to work naked

@alpine_thistle do they steal eggs or something? I’ve always thought of them as tick-eating-friend

@hafnia@weirder.earth in part bc i sometimes curse gravity when my joints act up and i’m kinda curious to know if i’m right

@hafnia@weirder.earth yeah i mean i couldnt do anything useful on the ISS so i’d probably get bored with any kind of longer term situation? But i’d totally go up for a bit if i had an opportunity

@hafnia@weirder.earth @pagrus i was mostly surprised a space program would care about ones origami skills, tho i guess i can see how it might proxy to some useful skills

@hafnia@weirder.earth @pagrus nah i mean folding a whole lotta cranes is traditional

@pagrus the process of determining what shape something was by its residual creases?
