Gonna reshare our image description advice thread from April - feel free to share the above around with anyone who might need it!

Alternatively, share these other resources on the same subject:

- @AmaBagins's thread from a Digital Accessibility Tester perspective, which has a bunch more resources: mastodon.art/@AmaBagins/109321

- @M0YNG's extensive guide, which covers lots of different fediverse UIs: m0yng.uk/Image-descriptions-on

- @Curator's short and sweet guide for artists: mastodon.art/@Curator/10819741

Writing image descriptions can be a hard habit to pick up, and it can be tricky to do, but it makes a difference and you can get good at it and develop your own style.

Thanks for your time!

HRT

@gwenprime the association between HRT and ‘patching your code’ makes it a clear winner for me even if some of the other options might have slightly better aesthetics

@kenchan@fedibird.com im glad it was helpful! people can have all sorts of stuff going on that impacts how & when they communicate so i try not to assume too much (not that thats necessarily easy haha)

if its really bothering you, you can always ask and see what they say

@kenchan@fedibird.com in cases where i’m friend, friend genuinely likes you but just has a terrible combo of executive processing issues + introversion that frequently precludes texting first

Todays is for stickerguy.com because i’ve had this glow in the dark sticker from @pagrus up for like two years and, even tho the location means its only getting fairly dim LED light, it somehow still glows bright enough to read from across the room

poll that i'm intentionally doing here and not @MindmeshLink

do you identify yourself as "disabled" primarily *to other people* in any context

like, not just saying *what disability* you have, ie "depressed", but do you tell other people "i'm disabled" or put "disabled" or "cripple" or any variant of it in your bios online

i am not asking "are you disabled and do you identify at all with the concept of disability" to be clear, this is a social phenomenon wondering, and nondisabled people are included and should say "never"

:boost_ok:

@troisroyaumes i dont have a source saved unfortunately but that sounds like mian xiang stuff — essentially placement / shape / etc of beauty marks is supposed to be reflective of certain aspects of a persons character or fate

@clayote @plastics by default i believe it posts a preview snippet and a link to the original, tho usually i just follow people via RSS instead so

there’s also write.as which has native activitypub integration

@inametaphor have i invited you to the fancoders discord yet?

@punkonbus1701@tenforward.social happy to share! glad there’s now too many fandom instances to keep track of — i hadn’t heard of several from your list either

@punkonbus1701@tenforward.social some other fandom or fandom adjacent instances:

etheirys.masto.host (FFXIV)
glaceon.social (pokemon)
kpop.social (kpop)
apobangpo.space (kpop, BTS)
wandering.shop (SF/F)
iamalive.digital (Detroit: Become Human)

copperbadge rarely needs introduction, but i’ll attempt to give him one nonetheless—sam does an excellent job blending his own style with more period appropriate language in this, the result of which is a lot of enjoyable wordplay and other turns of phrase without ever distracting from the narrative

inspired by the bit in the cold open where aziraphale and crowley watch a rehearsal of hamlet, though it’d work well enough as a pre-canon interlude for the book instead if you prefer

A Bard In The Hand (12049 words) by copperbadge
Chapters: 4/4
Fandom: Good Omens
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Aziraphale (Good Omens)/William Shakespeare, Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens)/William Shakespeare, Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens)Additional Tags: Historical, References to Shakespeare, Threesome - M/M/M, Trans Male Character, Twelfth Night - Freeform, References to Hamlet, Comedy, RPF, Mention of COVID-19, mention of pandemic
Summary:

Aziraphale finds a new dinner spot, Crowley invents marketing, and William Shakespeare gets extremely lucky.

pagination skips do still work on tumblr blogs w/infinite scroll enabled incidentally so congrats, we’re officially doing worse than tumblr on this lol

Show thread

…..and it doesn’t work for mastodon 4+ because profiles have fucking infinite scroll now

so if you want to go look at my old posts feel free i guess but it wont work for a decent chunk of people following me

Show thread

figured it out! ?min_id=0 works

i couldn’t get max to accept nonreal ids which is why id assumed this no longer worked but apparently for min its fine lmao

Show thread

@maloki if you know a specific post id, you can still see stuff that was posted around the same time by adding ?max_id= to your public profile URL but you do seem to need a valid post id to use

from what i can tell, 2.0 was when id’s switched from being sequential to snowflake, hence the speculation that, if thats the technique im remembering, it would have stopped being possible around then
