Romance, Slow Burn, Getting Together, also, Established Relationship, (kind of), welcome to Guardian canon

I could start but I’m not sure I’ll be able to top «Han Chen finds it kind of amazing that this isn't even the first time he's been lured into the woods for some kind of weird game that's probably supposed to include people being murdered.» anytime soon

Tulip magnolias making a second attempt after a freeze killed the first in the bud

And the redbud trees are looking adorable as always

1. As much of the conference as possible should be available remotely — not just so that high risk people like myself can opt out but also so that anyone who believes they have been exposed and make the right choice & self-isolate without being punished by missing the conference
2. Currently there are no at-con policies that would make air travel safe for me so that already precludes anything but local conventions. For those I would want:
- a clear plan on how the concom is assessing current covid risks and what their fallback is if the situation changes. Also a refund option if there’s a discrepancy between our risk thresholds
- a pretty seriously restricted capacity limit both on total attendees and on audience size for individual events
- a transparent & unbiased assessment of the convention centers ventilation to confirm its adequate
- mandatory vaccinations and masking in all indoor areas of the convention center
- testing before arrival & rapid tests available to attendees on site
- a robust digital option with heavy encouragement for anyone who has been exposed to self-isolate

@Fishercat for the people I follow who boost a lot of posts, I will often hide boosts from them so my feed doesn’t get too cluttered (its an option on someone’s profile page after you’ve followed them)

So in that sense boosts are more effective if you boost less, since it means people are more likely to see it. But it also means you don’t have to worry too much about overwhelming people with boosts because they can always opt out

Okay belated introductions post as promised:

I'm satsuma aka satsu aka 🍊 yr resident chronically ill punk, generally operating out of Philly (so EST, timezonewise)

I mostly post about whatever's caught my interest at the moment, which typically includes: cdramas & other fandom stuff (I believe I am the fedi-originator of ), food (i have a lot of niche food hobbies), cats, the local flora, asexuality & queer theory, and my questionable attempts at learning spanish

@soapdog creative writing and sff:
Wandering.shop aims for the vibe of a coffee shop at a sff convention (currently requires an invite link to join)
tenforward.social is star trek themed, has a fair variety of general chatter and sff stuff (anyone can register but mods will need to approve your registration)
writeout.ink smaller & newer instance for creative writing (not sure what their registration policy is at the moment! But their admin account is @nerd who would know)

In addition to mastodon and its forks (glitch and hometown are the most prominent), pleroma & pixelfed ( pixelfed.org ) are the most well developed platforms I’m aware of that federate with mastodon. Write.as (blogging) has limited activity pub support. PeerTube (p2p video sharing) and Funkwhale (funkwhale.audio, music platform) have by my understanding implemented activitypub but due to the nature of the platforms did so in ways that have only partial compatibility with the microblogging side of fedi

I *just* noticed that the dogs name in Crack a Code changes between successes 😆

There’s a @mecfs group, but it hasn’t seen a ton of use since the guppe server was rebooted

Dear #fediverse #instance #admin

the current situation with the @guppegroups Handles is very confusing.
It drives me crazy ;)

The server "gup.pe" is now "a.gup.pe" (maybe @datatitian can confirm).

The problem is the cache of the old handles. In mastodon, people find the non-existent "gup.pe" handles before they find the correct "a.guppe" handles (`Group` `Actor`) …

Can we [after consent of the domain owner above] maybe delete the cache for the old "gup.pe" domain?

re: sex and consent

@human_dude a relevant article that came out recently: "I’m Asexual & Partners Always Think I’ll Change My Mind About Sex"

food, possibly poision

@pagrus that does not sound like it would result in a botulism situation, oxygen inhibits growth

@cassolotl@queer.party crosspost fail?

Prof just stopped mid-sentence, said “you’re taller than you look” and then continued on as if nothing had happened
