there’s no option for mixing peanuts in bc thats not a spice but it is a delicious way to use up any canisters of slightly too spicy to eat straight jalepeño peanuts one might have received as a gift (or, purchased for this exact purpose)

@Satsuma Table salt here too, though sometimes I'll try flavacol if there's some way to get it to stick (usually oil).

@Satsuma honestly it's just salt and pepper with a lil' garlic, maybe paprika if I wanna go real nuts

@Satsuma Penzy's Tzar Dust is particularly great on popcorn.

@Satsuma It was my go-to before finding out popcorn was Bad For Me.

@sysadmin1138 alas! i wish you lots of safe for you salty & crunchy foods

@Satsuma if i’m not doing just salt i may put any combination of salt, pepper, cinnamon, msg, cumin, sugar, and garlic powder in more or less arbitrary purroporrions

@Satsuma@glitch.cat.family I didn't realize it's for popcorn at first and was gonna suggest five spice powder but maybe that works too...

@geraineon the emoji was too subtle clearly 😅

i have not yet tried 5 spice on popcorn but i definitely would!

@Satsuma@glitch.cat.family I thought the popcorn was for the ensuing fight and not the actual question 😂

Time for Science then! Five Spice Popcorn

@Satsuma@glitch.cat.family also tbf I'm not actually much of a popcorn person so IDK what are normal popcorn flavors

@geraineon haha a reasonable interpretation! its a response to a poll by @Lady from a few days ago asking about the best seasonings for fries but i found her options insufficient

@Satsuma I just pour on melted butter and then sprinkle with fine-grained salt, no special mix involved!

@soph_sol alas this poll cannot not allow just salt because then it would win and that would be boring

@Satsuma hahaha fair! in that case my runner-up vote is to make kettle corn by adding sugar to the popping experience!

@soph_sol kettle corn is delicious and i always forget its a thing one can actually make instead of purchasing in unwise quantities from the kettle man at the local fair

@Satsuma ideally it gets a little soft around the edges, but not melty. Delicious!

@kate interesting! i have done parm on popcorn of course but i guess i always assumed cheddar would be too wet? i will have to give it a try sometime

@aschmitz they do sink a bit so don’t go endlessly stirring your popcorn after its been added but not so much that throwing a handful on top of a bowl while serving causes issues

@Satsuma Huh, interesting. May have to try that at some point. (Well, not with anything spicy, but still.)

@aschmitz normal salted peanuts are also good we just happen to have some spicy ones @Lady’s brother sent us

@Satsuma

I often use just olive oil and garlic powder on my popcorn.

I’ve heard that cinnamon and butter is also a nice popcorn topping, but I have yet to test it.

@darkmirror i have dine both of those! maybe i need to run a which fats are best on popcorn poll next

@Satsuma nutritional yeast and *dill*, personally. And maybe a little lemon powder, maybe even a little cracked black pepper too.

@Cyannin ooh dill popcorn, delish

lemon powder as in zest or powdered juice?

@Satsuma powdered juice! zest would be amazing I'm sure - but I keep RealLemon and RealLime granulated around because they are just so convenient.

@Cyannin makes sense! i have put tajin on popcorn a few times which uses powdered lime juice i think — it’s not quite as satisfying as tajin on corn or watermelon but
