i don't want to know why Effective Altruism is suddenly a buzzword lately but i am surprised; i thought we defeated that one a decade ago when Peter Singer first started saying the words
individuals making motion to do large amounts of good are often covering for massive amounts of bad
@cleverclue even when it isn't, what happens when that person dies, steps down from their post, or has a change of heart? it's unconscionable to make a community dependent on a support structure with such awful failure modes
i'm developing a children's museum so this question is central
if it's just my hobby it should fail
but if others hear a call to service and bring their own expressions of love the community will find a home for the museum
the goal is to hand off the responsiblity to joyful hands
