@vaporeon_ @wallhackio I can't (maybe I could give it a crack later) but: they're making omelette rice
no image description
@The_T @vaporeon_ @wallhackio i tried getting google to translate it and it was. not very helpful lol
re: no image description
@aescling @The_T @vaporeon_ personally i think it's better this way
re: no image description
"What the heck is made-o?"
re: no image description
@vaporeon_ @The_T @wallhackio “seat!!”
Is this Clodsire slander?
@aescling @The_T @wallhackio Clodsire, trying to tell Quagsire to sit down: "Seat!!!"
re: no image description
@aescling @vaporeon_ @The_T if AI is going to destroy world then it should at least be funny
@aescling @vaporeon_ @wallhackio I actually just struggled with the handwriting, but if one could convert the handwriting to computer characters I could use a Japanese dictionary and my general knowledge to actually give it a go
re: no image description
@aescling @The_T @vaporeon_ oh shit omurice is a kind of japanese omelet so "I'm eating Nuomuraisu" is a pun since Quagsire's japanese name is Nuoh, genius!!
re: no image description
@wallhackio @aescling @vaporeon_ fuck, disappointed I couldn't have gotten to that first
well, now you all have to listen to my favorite Japanese pun
@wallhackio @aescling @vaporeon_ so in Sonic 2, in Metropolis Zone, there's an enemy, a praying mantis that throws it's scythe arms. In English, it's called Slicer. Terribly boring name.
But in Japanese... so the Japanese word for praying mantis is kamakiri. Slicer, in Japanese, is called Kamakiller. Kamakiri + killer.
re: well, now you all have to listen to my favorite Japanese pun
@The_T @aescling @vaporeon_ genius
re: no image description
@wallhackio @The_T @vaporeon_ omurice just means omelette rice
re: no image description
@aescling @wallhackio @The_T What is omelette rice? Do you just fry rice with egg?
@vaporeon_ @aescling @wallhackio the rice goes inside the egg in a way that is completely arcane to me
then you put ketchup on it
@The_T @aescling @wallhackio Wait
Do tomatoes grow in Japan?
@vaporeon_ @aescling @wallhackio I think tomatoes will grow anywhere you plant them
@vaporeon_ @aescling @wallhackio Internet website says:
Originating in Mesoamerica about 7,000 years ago, tomatoes arrived in Japan early in the Edo period (1603-1868) having traveled the globe and being domesticated along the way. The first tomato plants in Japan were considered an ornamental — they were not cultivated for culinary purposes until the Meiji period (1868-1912).
@vaporeon_ @The_T @aescling it's typically topped with ketchup
@wallhackio @The_T @aescling Ketchup is made of tomatoes
@vaporeon_ @The_T @aescling I don't imagine it would be difficult to import ketchup
but also I am not aware of any reason that Japan wouldn't cultivate tomatoes themselves
@vaporeon_ @The_T @aescling maybe they don't though. i really wouldn't know
@wallhackio @vaporeon_ you missed a post https://glaceon.social/@The_T/115222409386630691
@The_T @vaporeon_ oh neat thanks
re: no image description
@vaporeon_ @wallhackio @The_T skillfully purrepared omelette, hard on the outside but still runny on the inside, served over a bed of fried rice; after laying it on the rice it's cut open to let the wetter eggs spill out. it looks really neat when purrepared correctly
@wallhackio Very good Pocket Monsters
(Can someone who knows Japanese translate for me?)
