@murz from what i understand from reading discourse about the show, the anime is very faithful to the manga, so it is really is just paced like that

after finishing season 2 i am genuinely perplexed by the story. i dont understand why you would have a main cast if you're going to spend so little with them on screen together. im not going to feel sad if you kill nobara after telling me that the main characters become really good friends **off screen*. like, let me watch them become friends! why was there not a twelve episode arc where they just do jjk wizard shit for twelve episodes and i get to watch them become friends? why wasn't there an episode where nobara goes back to her home town and she meets her old friend and then we learn her backstory? why wasn't there an episode where we spend time with nanami and then we learn his tropical backstory?

if you do the work to develop these important characters you intend to kill then i will actually feell said when when they die. instead, they kill nobara and my genuine irl reaction was "....why?" more bafflingly, the show is capable of doing the work to develop characters, but its only for side characters. I was very interested in the girl that Gojo and the bad guy meet in the beginning of season 2. I have religious trauma from my upbringing, hell yeah let me see a character deconstruct everything they know! oh she's dead now. Oh I was very interested in the robot man with terminal pain, I am interested in seeing more about the robot man, oh he's dead now. Oh i really like Nanami, can't wait to see more of this guy, oh he's dead now.

I do like Gojo a lot. He's a fop dandy guy but he's also superman. I like that he could waste the bad guy in an instant and solve the plot immediately, but but he can't bring himself to do it because he's still in love with this guy and he can't move on. it's interesting.

im pleasantly surprised to find that general audiences really like gojo. he's very popular, even tho he's a plausibly-deniably-gay-coded tumblr sexyman fop dandy guy. pretty interesting that could happen, that's neat.

anyway yeah i don't get it. it's not for me.
