@wallhackio What I will say is that I know AOT ends up being weirdly fascist and Dune is specifically (and more clearly in the sequels because people didn't get it) a critique of the kind of white-saviour fascism Paul is doing

@coriander Dune had much better intent than AoT but that didn't stop the worst kinds of fan to reading the wrong things out of it

@wallhackio If nothing else, you should also read Messiah, it makes it much more explicit that Paul is the bad guy

A ton of people hated it when it came out because of this =P

@wallhackio I would also recommend keeping going with the series but that's because I adore Frank's weirdness and by the time you read God-Emperor you realize that the first book was extremely normal by his standards

But not everyone is up for Frank's weirdness

@coriander anyway, aside from the fatphobia and homophobia surrounding the Baron I also had weird feelings about the idea that the Fremen are the most powerful fighting guys ever, it has some "hard times make great men" energy

There's a scene in God-Emperor where Duncan Idaho goes on a rampage because he saw two girls kissing, it's hilarious and it's NOT meant to be
