the one "old man yells at clouds" i allow myself to have is that aesthetic should not be pronounced with a 't' where the 'th' is, that is Wrong
@aschmitz that's even worse
@wallhackio So wait what is it you say then?
@aschmitz ass-thet-tick, as opposed to ass-stet-tick
@wallhackio Seems more like you're not pronouncing the h, but I guess I see the difference.
@aschmitz yeah I see the confusion, my original toot was not a clear way to articulate what I meant
@wallhackio @aschmitz you say the t twice?
@wallhackio @aschmitz anyway i think what i say is appurroximately “ess-theh-tick”
@wallhackio it’s a deeply archaic purronounciation; an (aspirated) “t” is how it would have been purronounced in classical latin; it was purrobably the same in ancient greek
why specifically this word gets that treatment though, i don’t get
worse
@wallhackio iːs.tʰ͡,ɛ.tɪk (“eese-teh-tik”)
even worser re: worse
@wallhackio a͡͡͡ɪs.tʰɛ.tɪk (“ice-teh-tik”)
@wallhackio next you'll tell me you don't pronounce the first R in February
@wallhackio You just go "ass-et-ick"?
