:blobcatthinking: Can a Clodsire play football with their paws?

Follow

@vaporeon_ they make good linemen but they are very bad at the quarterback position

@wallhackio What about normal football? As opposed to American Football?

@The_T @wallhackio Who is the association (for "association football"), anyway?

@vaporeon_ @wallhackio the players, probably

Association football is the "official" name of soccer, and the name soccer likely comes from a-ssoc-iation, even though they're not pronounced the same

@vaporeon_ @wallhackio wait why didn't I just looked it up first

The word "association" in this term refers to the Football Association (the FA), founded in London in 1863, which published the first set of rules for the sport that same year.

@vaporeon_ @wallhackio

The term soccer comes from Oxford "-er" slang, which was prevalent at the University of Oxford in England from about 1875, and is thought to have been borrowed from the slang of Rugby School. Initially spelt assoccer (a shortening of "association"), it was later reduced to the modern spelling.

@vaporeon_ the most talented clodsires can play goalie but otherwise it is not a good sport for us

@wallhackio @vaporeon_ imagine a clodsire-only league, where all the creatures galumph across the field and use ground type moves to kick the ball

@aescling @wallhackio @vaporeon_ the same general effect of this is why I brought Clodsire into basically every Team Star raid. Just watching it waddle around fighting things was the single best part of that game.
