I did it! I probably did not need to grind that long, but it went very smoothly having done so.

currently grinding and trying to decide if i wanna adjust my team any or teach them some new TMs for this. it occurred to me that i won't need my HM mons for the pokemon league, so i'm considering swapping in somebody else for Linoone or Tentacruel (Pelipper got replaced previously by Rayquaza natively knowing Fly + Tentacruel because Pelipper couldn't learn Dive).

I have defeated all the gyms in Emerald and captured Rayquaza (just used master ball for this).
... I guess next (after a while break) a bunch of grinding and then I will face the Elite Four.
context re: detective fiction recommendation request
a game i am gonna run suggests adapting the backstory of this sort of detective fiction as the basis of scenarios for it. i read a sara paretsky book that i really liked but i figure i’ll read some more stuff so i have a few ideas to pick from

i hereby solicit recommendations of detective fiction. if you have any of that (authors or particular works) you like, i’d appreciate hearing them!
i am currently more looking for the sort of work where the question is more whether the protagonist will achieve any sort of good outcome rather than for the reader to compete with the detective at solving the mystery. like, not poirot/holmes style stuff. that said if you have stuff you really like of the latter sort i’d also be curious but would appreciate if you indicated that it was that kind of thing :)

this complaint does unfortunately also generalize to questions of perhaps more weight than what distinguishes fanfiction from more conventionally respected "literature"
for example, analyzing the material base underlying the production and reception of "fanfiction" cannot begin and end with copyright law. like obviously at a very minimum you have to discuss fandom...
a lot of people who emphasize the importance of analyzing the material conditions underlying things are unfortunately really bad at analyzing the material conditions underlying things...

unrelatedly i decided to try the iOS auto light/dark mode setting and apparently the minesweeper app i play is kinna gorgeous in dark mode.

anybody got any hot tips for satisfying things to “eat” if you need to consume nothing but clear liquids (that must not be red or purple) for a day? (no animal products)
