i am happy to repurrt that the tf machine no longer uses the awful hacks i wrote about back in that accused daemonology post

me when the api is less than purrfect

typing issues aside, i do think conceptually that sync and async versions of a function call should just be diffurent functions

grr grumble grumble, this api takes "do this asynchronously?" as an argument and the python type system is not expurressive enough to recognize that it either returns the connection it creates or bottom depending on the value of the argument. grr grr grr annoying api, annoying
