a recent season had a long aside about whether it was okay for the host to call everyone “you guys” and this was immediately folowed up by announcing the fijian names of the contenstants’ t r i b e s
survivor is the kind of show to play itself off as progressive and sensitive for casting queers and people of color at all and then exploiting their frustration about racism for drama while using the image of the Exotic as its æsthetic
like idk you don’t wanna see your fellow people get voted out but like. you’re gonna be given reasons to be the person voted out yourself. lol. which is not made any better by the very obvious racial disparities in the casting,
people of color hoping to see racial disparities in outcome resolved in a game show putting you in fundamental opposition with everybody else there with lots of money on the line, are going to continue to be very disapponited with the results
