@wallhackio @vaporeon_ also, a lot of us get development machines well in the thousands of dollars purchased fur us by our employers, alienating devs from the lowest ends of consumer hardware, and from the kinds of slow internet connections that are still not uncommon, especially outside the West

@wallhackio @vaporeon_ the mastodon webapp used to be extremely noticably Slow fur me on my phone until back when i got a pixel 4a

@aescling @wallhackio @vaporeon_ Yeah, I hung on to my work machine even when it was eligible for upgrades just because I didn't want to make things that assumed our top-end hardware. (I did get them to order a replacement battery once it started dying, though.)
