these people out there thinking the mario trailer looks good reminds me of the hype cycle leading up to sonic 2022 and all i gotta say is ny’all out there really need better standards
@aescling i thought it looked pretty bad honestly. no sense of subtlety. looked like it was meant to be viewed from 100 feet away instead of a screen right in front of you

i thought Bowser’s character animation was awkward and stiff, especially when gloating over the power star, which i find abnormal for illumnation. they normally at least can animate with appeal imo
@aescling in theatre it is conventional for people to wear very heavy makeup and make exaggerated expressions and movements and for sets to have lots of large, loud yet crude detail because it is important for the play to still be understandable by people sitting far away in the back of the audience
anyway the mario trailer felt like that
