saw a reddit comment recently saying “that’s not leftist, that’s progressive” and i’ve been thinking about that a lot
the fact that the bar for progressivism here was “being decent to the gays” just makes the statement more strange
is it even progressive to be decent to the gays in the US in 2022. that’s just, like, expected
@aescling i mean “conservative” now doesn't mean “conserving the current state of affairs” but “returning to a previous state of affairs prior to some progress” and one could argue by the same token that the point of reference for “progressive” is not the present day
