@platypus !!!!
@twistylittlepassages @raspberry yeah that part is not ideal! with acid free tape i was willing to make the tradeoff but ymmv
@purplecoww technically not a novel but a play, though the importance of being earnest’s script is incredibly readable and very funny on its own (it was written for amateur performance amongst friends and it also does excellently for that if you feel inspired to hop on a discord call with some friends or whatever)
@Betty both confusing and troubling
@twistylittlepassages @raspberry yeah i have definitely torn the backs of some non-shiny papers that i hung with poster command hooks—my solution at the time was to start sticking some acid free scotch tape to the back of the paper first before putting the strips on which i recall working p well
@jemjabella @harrybo @platypus yeah obviously if that’s not an option on other operating systems then people should probably not be posting qr codes anyway. but i’ll admit i’d never considered that feature wasn’t standard, and i bet a lot of people posting qr codes are in the same boat haha
@jemjabella @harrybo @platypus iphones can use the built in reader from several apps including photos (which is where screenshots usually end up) & files (where photos go if i tap and hold to save). i just tested to double check and i can open qr’s in screenshots from both
@brie this is discrimination 😂
Talking about nutrition (positive)
@xieliansbignaturals yay i’m glad they’re working for you!!
@pastelsinmysky sometimes one just doesnt have the energy to shop! or has other things one needs to spend that energy on! it happens its fine
@pastelsinmysky actually acquiring food is more important than the way you go about doing so imo
@villainousfriend yeah that sure was a choice 😂
@kate happy birthday!! 🧁
@pastelsinmysky oh no!!
@RainofTerra figure out what your useful skills and resources are, and how much time/energy you can reasonably dedicate to sharing them (burnout sucks!), and then share that info with all your current friends. If you’re comfortable with it, tell them you’re happy to help with [insert skill/resource related stuff here] if any of their friends need help. Then find out what their skills are, and if those are things you can pass along if you hear about someone needing help
See if there are outdoor/covid safe events you can go to, at least occasionally (political events like protests are good, but if you’ve only got yoga in the park you’ll still meet some potentially cool people!) Exchange contact info with anyone you meet who seems cool, and then maybe hit them up for coffee or a walk in the park or whatever if you wanna turn it into a real friendship. Mention you’ve been trying to help people with [thing] if it comes up. Find out who the organizers are, or other people who seem to be Doing The Work and are aligned with your values and introduce yourself to them. Ask if they’ve got a mailing list/signal group/whatever so you can hear about other stuff they’re doing & if there’s anything you can help with, either in the moment or in the future
poll re: biting insects
@twistylittlepassages @titania same! topical Benadryl helps a lot but if i don’t have it it sucks
@Betty so far we’ve been cursing the squirrels but otherwise they’re doing p okay i think?
@Betty i fortuitously put a lot of tiny plants in the ground last week so i’ve been appreciating checking in on all of them when i go out to water (well, on the days when i manage to remember that sunset is at five now and don’t end up watering in the dark but)
also, flopping on top of my gf and demanding head skritches
