Now that federation appears to be working 🤞, be advised that I am the (public-facing) admin of this instance 😅

@KitRedgrave if you wanna really say that, you should see how our fork is going on github lol

@KitRedgrave @aescling for a walk down to the corner store (a 7‐11); we’ll grab a Slurpee® or maybe a hot chocolate if it’s cold

@KitRedgrave @Lady honestly surprised anybody here would consider themselves that friendly with this hellsoftware but good for y’all i guess

@KitRedgrave @aescling right now the only major feature which i am actively interested in developing (and this will be a long‐term project if we do decide to do it) is pseud support; otherwise i would say my priorities are:

• making the code better at what it already does

• documenting the code better

• making mastodon play better with other technologies; reducing the amount of (usually poorly‐documented) mastodon‐specific conventions

• increasing user agency wrt their own data, what they can do with it, and what kind of information they can send out

long‐term i also might want to build a frontend which isn’t react/redux, but i really don’t much care about mastodon frontend development atm

@Lady @aescling wow you are much kinder with it than i would be. i would mainly be cutting features nobody asked for and dependencies that i don't need, until it only does the bare minimum i need

@KitRedgrave @Lady kit definitely approaches things the way we would if we wanted to make the effort for it (see: our httpd lol)

@KitRedgrave i’ve never quite made it explicit yet (in part because i needed to figure it out by diving into it) but i can see my priorities diverge from @Lady’s somewhat; my first thoughts are being very interested in features from pinafore and monsterfork that i think are cool and worth porting over; i would also really love to have a default flavour that is distinctly GlitchCat’s

this is interesting to me because normally i prefer thinking about infrastructural matters! but this is where i’m thinking instead

@KitRedgrave @aescling cutting dependencies is slated for code review, but there are few features in mastodon that nobody needs

@KitRedgrave @aescling also “kindness” in this case is mostly just a matter of keeping the project scope manageable lol
