Getting a letter for a story quest in Stardew like "Hey can I have a melon?" but there's only like a week left in summer and you don't think you have any melons growing right now so homie is just gonna have to wait an entire year to get that melon

@coriander in Harvest Moon 64 every marriageable candidate will start courting another NPC, locking you out of their romance, if you don't romance them in time
one marriageable candidate will also leave the game forever during the second year if you don't complete a specific side quest in time
@wallhackio I remember a similar thing in A Wonderful Life where you had to get married by the end of year 1 I think
@coriander when you do start a romance with a marriageable candidate the NPC that would court them declares themselves your rival and then fuck with you for the rest of the game

@coriander yeah Harvest Moon 64 isn't very good overall but it has some really good details
@wallhackio I grew up playing the original Animal Crossing, I think life sim games should be a little mean to you sometimes
