toast
@wallhackio i guess we’ll never know
@Satsuma @wallhackio Indeed we'll never know why Bumby only posts polls about things that are cooking.
@aschmitz @wallhackio half of fedi disagrees with you
@Satsuma @wallhackio To an extent that's the joke, but also that's five people. I can probably convince one or two of them that the bread is already baked by the point you're turning it into toast.
@wallhackio @aschmitz just because biscotti is already baked when you slice it up and put it in the oven doesn’t stop it from being baking
@Satsuma @wallhackio Not even the Wikipedia is sure. "The Italian word biscotti (sg.: biscotto) originates from the Medieval Latin word biscoctus, meaning 'twice-cooked', which described items that were made from dough and baked twice"
@aschmitz @wallhackio if you are genuinely arguing that biscotti is not baking that would rather explain why you keep thinking everything is cooking, because its hard to think of a more definitionally baked product
@Satsuma @wallhackio I would certainly say that the first pass of biscotti is baking. I am... less certain about the second. I guess typically the second cooking/baking is typically just "you sliced it", not any other prep? Hmmm.
@Satsuma @wallhackio I am not certain that I am convinced, but you make a compelling argument.
@wallhackio i had to stare at my ceiling for a minute for this one. I think the immediate inclination is to say baking because you bake bread, and toast is made of bread. But i think cooking is more appropriate here since other dishes involving the application of already baked bread arent considered baking. like you dont "bake a sandwich". or even more specifically, you dont "bake a grilled cheese", which is basically the same process as cooking toast but with some cheese in the middle
