@coriander I couldn't make that an option because it would have won unanimously
@wallhackio yeah
@wallhackio Anyway the answer depends on framing because, culinarily, they are vegetables but taxonomically they are their own thing
@wallhackio @coriander clodsire demonstrating a rare moment of Aware
@wallhackio It's a vegetable culinarily, which is the only context I'm aware of where "vegetable" is a coherent term
@amy @wallhackio same hat
@wallhackio I was right
@wallhackio vegetals is plants! shroom is fungy
@wallhackio ok technically vegetal is a culinary category so shrooms could be vegetal
@wallhackio like a tomato is a fruit and also vegetal
@cam @wallhackio yeh
@cam @wallhackio canning companies did make up the word 'vegetable' to sell more vegetal
I cannot emphasize how much I am not making this up
@Breakfast @cam @wallhackio Please elaborate
This is the first time that I hear the word "vegetal"
@vaporeon_ @cam @wallhackio vegetal is technically a word in its own right meaning "pertaining to plants" (related to vegetable), however it's also a funny misspelling of the word vegetable, popularized in memes from 10 years ago
however the culinary term "vegetable" as in "plant grown for food" originated in the 18th century from produce packagers, looking for a term for their stock that was not just "fruits and plants that are not fruits"
@wallhackio can not be killed in a way that matters
